NuLeaf Naturals CBD Review

Our Rating: A

Updated 11-Sep-2019. NuLeaf Naturals give us 3rd party labs

NuLeaf Naturals was started in 2014 by a group of enthusiasts in plant medicines. They pride themselves on using sustainable, organic processes to grow and develop their plants and products. Their hemp is sourced in Colorado. Colorado’s grown-hemp is purported to be of a strong and resilient quality. They use extracts of the whole plant to produce their products. NuLeaf’s tinkerers continue to function as breeders and cloners of hemp. NuLeaf Naturals’ CBD, terpenes, and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids are kept at high levels so that the whole leaf extract requires minimal tinkering to produce the highest quality products. CO2 extraction is used to make the full-spectrum hemp extract. They have a functional website and a presence on social media, including on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

A study was done in Israel comparing CBD isolate with a full-spectrum extract supplement purportedly discovered that the full-spectrum hemp extracts were more efficacious than cannabidiol alone. NuLeaf’s focus on sticking close to nature works perfectly in this case with also making a much stronger product. Their product is 3rd party tested, which is the most basic cut-off for a passing grade in our review versus a failing grade. No product without 3rd party labs should get a passing grade.

Description of NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil

NuLeaf Naturals has a good back story so far. This is claimed to be a company started by naturalists who wanted natural plant treatments to take center stage in helping people recover from illness and improve their lives. There are no claims that this substance can treat any medical condition, since the FDA will jump down your throat if you say that, but it is a sign of a company which expects to get large or at least has a lot of credibilities, that they have already anticipated these issues and have not made medical claims. However, stress and anxiety are not medical conditions, so those are fair game.

NuLeaf Naturals prices and products

240mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil, High Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)

With this product, you get 50 mg of CBD per ml of oil as well as other cannabinoids and terpenes. These products contain a true full-spectrum extract with absolutely no additives. One drop contains 2.4 mg of CBD, therefore, it should be easy to dose. Do the math and you see that you have about 100 drops of oil in the entire bottle and it will be easy for you to get the right dosage for your purposes.

Directions:  to use sublingually, keep under the tongue for 30 secs, then swallow.

Other products:

  1. 725mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil, High-Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)
  2. 1450mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil, High Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)
  3. 2425mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil, High Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)
  4. 4850mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil, High Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)
  5. Full Spectrum Pet CBD Oil, High-Grade Hemp Extract (50mg/ml)

Ingredients:

  • High-grade hemp extracts. Cannabidiol is the main cannabinoid in this hemp extract, but hemp can also contain more than 125 other cannabinoids to make the product more effective. It also contains terpenes like myrcene and limonene which boost the effect and give a mango and citrus flavor when in high concentration.
  • Hemp oil. The extract is suspended in the oil from the hemp plant itself, which contains vitamins and healthy fatty acids. Hemp oil alone is known to have an anti-inflammatory effect so the addition of the extract gives it a double whammy punch to knock out stress and anxiety.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find 3rd party lab reports shared on NuLeaf Naturals’ site. This is a real sticking point for which we must definitely deduct points. Does that kick this promising company down to a B. What is the point of having such an all-natural, full-spectrum product if you don’t provide proof of that unless we ask directly for it?  For the record, you can email NuLeaf and ask for labs. But goodness, with all the companies out there that publish all their batch information, why take that extra step to try to get labs when you could just choose a product where the batch information is right there?  3rd party labs mean absolutely everything when it comes to non-medical CBD products. They could have just as much CBD as prescription products, with added cannabinoids and terpenes, and thus be even more effective for stress and anxiety than the prescription forms used for illnesses like epilepsy and schizophrenia. But, we don’t know. We will just have to send them an email and hope for the best. Major let down.

We will give them the benefit of the doubt that there is a good reason for this and nothing nefarious is going on.

We include this chart for comparison purposes. According to the Food and Drug Administration, CBD oil products are not drugs that can treat any illness. This chart can be used to calculate the dosage you might use for anxiety, stress, and to get to sleep. These are common human afflictions, not diseases owned by the drug companies that run the FDA.

Standout Features of NuLeaf Naturals CBD Hemp Oil Drops

No Additives

With a commitment to organic farming and production practices, NuLeaf claims to add nothing to their CBD oil. Extraction is done with CO2, the same stuff you breathe out, fairly safe stuff. No solvents that harm the body or the environment. Everything is grown organically.

Full-Spectrum Extract

As mentioned before, at least one study done at the Hadassah Medical School found that a full-spectrum extract was more effective than CBD alone. This is in keeping with the usual theory of hemp therapeutic action. Hemp contains more than just CBD. It also has low levels of other cannabinoids like THC. It contains terpenes like myrcene and therapeutic fatty acids.

Cannabidiol

NuLeaf Naturals hemp oil has high levels of CBD which is clearly labeled, making dosing easy.

Unfortunately, they don’t provide all labs on the website to verify the levels, but you can email them for the labs.

Risks and Side Effects

CBD oil which is well-grown and prepared, tested by 3rd party labs to ensure low or undetectable levels of pesticides or heavy metal toxins, has few side effects. Side effects that may occur frequently can involve tiredness and sleepiness caused by the anti-anxiety effect. This effect is welcome in those who use CBD for anxiety and inability to sleep.

The only other area of concern is that of drug interactions. CBD can increase or decrease the metabolism of other drugs you may take which can either increase or decrease in the effectiveness of those medications. In order to avoid drug interactions, you need to talk with your doctor about your CBD supplementation.

The biggest negative of NuLeaf Naturals is that you can’t tell from their website if they are telling the truth. They don’t just come out with the labs. There are even lab result reporting systems like Confident Cannabis where they just put the results up for each batch in a way that is accessible and understandable to customers. We recommend that NuLeaf invests in a similar system.

NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil reviews

Review Rating: A.  “felt like he could focus…”

This Facebook user gave his son NuLeaf CBD oil and found that from a single drop, his son could focus better. The product is used to increase focus. Although the child has ADHD, CBD oil products are for the improvement of anxiety and alertness, not treatment of ADHD.

Review Rating: F. “I felt very dizzy…”

This Facebook user is experiencing side effects that are sometimes associated with CBD, dizziness, and dehydration. This could also be caused by contamination with toxins or pesticides. The only way to know is to see those 3rd party labs, but NuLeaf has not made them easily accessible, despite claiming to be concerned about people and their health. Again, we will assume there is some good reason for not having the labs easily accessible and try not to attribute bad motives to the company or those who run it.

Review Rating: F. “No response…What’s going on?”

This Facebook user indicates that Nuleaf may be lacking in the customer service department. After several hours, we are still waiting on a response from NuLeaf about whether or not they can make the labs available to us. Not producing the labs upfront may allow a company to save money because if they have a bad batch, they just keep it and sell ineffective oil. We can’t say that NuLeaf does this, but some companies clearly do this. In fact, a review of 24 products from the FDA found that only 2 had the CBD levels which were claimed. Companies may have straightened up since then, but you have to be skeptical of any company which does not proudly display its labs and who are sluggish at responding to customer concerns. Businesses suffer from such deficiencies because the business structure itself is faulty, not because there are evil people working for the companies. Most are just doing as they are told. But sometimes those who have to invest the money and time into the company hate to lose a batch so they push out the bad batches as well as the good ones and you get inconsistency in the effects of the product.

Review Rating: D. “Keeps getting me high.”

This Reddit user feels like the product is getting him high. This could be an allergic reaction he is having, but it could also be that it is indeed getting him high because it contains too much THC. We don’t know because NuLeaf has not made its labs easily accessible. One might assume that you might fail a drug test if you use a CBD product with bad quality control.

Q&A about NuLeaf Naturals CBD

Do they ship nationally?
Yes.
Do they ship internationally?
Yes.
Can you buy it in a store?
NuLeaf has good distribution, but it seems like they are more focused on distribution than they are on producing a good product, or at least they are not letting the public know they have a good product by providing the labs upfront. You can find the product in stores all over the United States like the one below: Suzanne’s Natural Foods3106 S Connecticut AveJoplin MO the 64804United States
Will it make me high?
No. But, get the labs to make sure THC levels are below 0.3% to be certain you won’t get high or fail a drug test. You can email them at the email address provided above to get the 3rd party labs.
Does not having labs on the website mean it’s a bad product?
No, it does not. It just means we don’t know until they give us the labs, that’s why we gave them an A earlier, then had to downgrade it to a C until we get labs.
Will it interact with my other medications?
You will have to ask your doctor about this as well as do some research on drug interactions. CBD can increase or decrease the levels and effects of other drugs.
Is it weed?
It is low THC cannabis sativa. The full-spectrum extract is not weed, hash, marijuana, pot, or any product made from them. It can have more than 125 cannabinoids, all adding to the effect of the high CBD levels. None of these cannabinoids are psychoactive at the levels in which they occur. Industrial hemp simply has low THC levels. This is the difference between marijuana and hemp used for hemp oil CBD products.
Will it help my health conditions?
NuLeaf Naturals passes this test. They refuse to make health claims. This means they may be a legitimate company. Illegitimate companies freely make health claims which make it only a matter of time before the FDA discovers them and becomes a thorn in their side.

Conclusion

Grade:  A (updated after 3rd party labs)

That they have good marketing and distribution but questionable customer service and 3rd party labs are not displayed on the website, suggests their focus is on selling, not on people and quality. This is a very bad sign.

They have a very promising story. They are a group of lovers of plant medicines who just wanted to bring this wonderful plant to those suffering from stress and anxiety. They want to deliver health benefits. Unfortunately, the reviews on social media were not good, and we did not have to go searching for negative comments. We simply did not find many good ones. Yet, you can get the product nationally and internationally. You can buy it in stores. It seems like they are pretty good at distributing the product but none too fond of dealing with customers or making sure the customer knows exactly what they are getting.

It is possible that they send labs to you if you buy a product. If so, we will change the grade to an A. But for now, it’s a C.

Also, their shipping and returns page contains reasonable content but just doesn’t seem as friendly as we hoped. We want it to sound like a Walmart no questions asked return, which is what we’ve gotten used to. Instead, it seems complicated but reasonable, you have to pay to ship.
